RECORD LABEL: NASHVILLE AMERICA RECORDS
First song up, and I'm hooked. Now how do ya like that?! To
tell ya the truth, I wasn't really in the mood to write, this morning.
Sometimes you are, sometimes you aren't. But, if I'm inspired,
I write. And guess what folks….I'm inspired!
Pure, clean vocals…the kind we USED to hear…and lots of steel guitar,
together with acoustics and fiddles, it's just great!! I
liked every song I heard, but was especially moved by the first track,
"One Memory At A Time" (David Frizzell). This song had
everything a country fan could ask for--lost love, memories by the dozen,
tears, and a melody that's one of the best I've heard, for slooooow dancin'.
David has a new duet partner on this CD, and I know you're gonna love her
as much as I do. Her name's Peggy Rains, and her voice compliments
David's very nicely. She's an Oklahoma girl, and they seem real
comfortable together. That comes through with every song they sing
together. Let's hope they'll do more together! And David's
also started his own label, Nashville America Records, which debuts this
album. I wish him lots of luck with his new venture! If he
continues with the style and quality that I heard on this CD, he's bound
to do well.
Let's take a quick peek at some of the songs on this new CD before I go
any further, so I can tell y'all WHY you should buy this one! I
already told ya about the first one, but how about this--"Baby Don't
Love Here Anymore" (David Frizzell) ? Now, what kinda title is
that? A GREAT one, that's what! It says it all, right there.
And it's a tearjerker, too. Dang, I love those tearjerkers!
And right after that one, we have "When Can We Do This
Again" (Frizzell/David AC Kohut). He pairs up again, with Peggy
Rains on this one, and it's perfect! "…There's…
your perfume on my sleeve…" a line from the song, and I think its
one of my favorite lines of all time! Heck, I think this may
be my VERY favorite track on the whole album! I don't know, though,
I just keep changin' my mind, the more I listen to it! 'Cause
right after that one, we have the rockin' "You've Just Been Robbed By
Jesse James" (Frizzell/Kohut). This is the first single released to
radio, and you can't help but love this one…and LAUGH, too! But
then…you get hit again, with another wonderful ballad, "A Love That
Might Have Been" (Staci Peters/T. Castleton) one of two that weren't
actually written by Frizzell, but is just as beautiful, and carries
David's mark of pure, traditional country. Dang, he just
won't let us catch our breath! And that's ok with me, 'cause an
album that's so filled with pure country music, isn't ever a chore to
listen to. Who needs to breathe, anyway?
David, who also produced this CD, just HAD to end this fine album with a
song that no REAL country music fan will EVER forget, "I'm Gonna Hire
A Wino To Decorate Our Home" (Dewayne Blackwell). Now, I don't
have to tell you about this one, do I? Frizzell has one numerous
awards for this one, and its just as much fun to listen to now, as it was
in 1982, when it found its way to # 1 on the charts! I ask ya,
what could be MORE country?? (by the way, did you
know that Blackwell also wrote Garth Brooks big hit, "Friends In Low
Places"?)
Folks, I'm beggin' ya…please go visit David's website, http://www.davidfrizzell.com,
as well as his new record label's site, http://www.nashvilleamericarecords.com
. And stop by Peggy Rains' website, http://www.peggyrains.com.
Hopefully you'll decide to buy this super CD, and as long as your at
it, why don't you call your favorite country radio station, and ask them
to play some David Frizzell! If they don't pick up on this one, I
swear, there's just no hope for them anymore. But
then, that's only MY opinion and…"an independent view" by:
