Well it sure is really hot today
And I haven't even got the grass half mowed
And already Mrs. Applewhite
Is given me the sign across the road
I guess by now that the coast is clear
She's a wanting the bottle that she had me buy
Funny how she gets more friendly
After just couple of good stiff belts of rye
Maybe widow Jones will ask me in
For a glass or two of Ice cold Lemonade
For her kitchen's got an air conditioner
And that sure beats a resting in the shade
By the way ain't seen Miss Pendleton
Who lives in that big house across the way
As a matter of fact come to think of it
I ain't seen the old gal around at all to-day
Now she told me the other morning
When she had me put all her storm windows in
That there wasn't a person in this block except
her
That didn't live in Sin
She said that Mrs. Cramer leaves the house
The minute that her poor old Husband's gone
And she only get's home just in time to change
And put the old boy's supper on.
Could I imagine what was going on
In behind that young widow James door
For last Tuesday night a pickup truck
Was parked outside, half hour maybe more
And now they call me the Handyman
Cause I'm pretty doggone handy as a rule
And I learned a long long time ago
You just don't go a telling tales out of school
I know what Mrs. Cramer's doing
And widow James well uh! uh! Never mind
I gotta a very thing going here
And jobs like this are pretty hard to find
Now Mrs. Pendleton needs a lesson
Cause to spread that kind of gossip just ain't
right
So yesterday I took my pick-up truck
And I parked it in her driveway overnite
And oh! La La
